Job summary

Tarmac Trading Limited is looking for a Shift Fitter to join our team at the Alfreton, Derbyshire site. The role involves day shifts (6am–6pm) and night shifts (6pm–6am) within a busy block manufacturing environment, offering a dynamic and inclusive culture with opportunities to develop technical skills.

You’ll perform planned and reactive maintenance, record work on the CMSS system, and ensure safety standards are met.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance of mechanical parts including bearings and shafts.
• Welding and/or pipefitting experience is advantageous.
• Experience in manufacturing or heavy industry environment.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day maintenance on production machinery.
• Meet statutory and SHE standards.
• Maintain and service equipment on site on planned or reactive basis.
• Record work in the CMSS system.
• Be self-motivated with good communication skills.

Job description

We are currently looking for a Shift Fitter to join our team in Alfreton. The shift patterns will vary from days: 6am - 6pm and nights: 6pm - 6am. We're working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it is important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.

Main Responsibilities

In the role of ShiftFitter you will be responsible for:

• Day-to-day maintenance activities which include planned preventative and reactive maintenance on production machinery
• Meeting statuary and SHE standards as a minimum
• This is a day-work role, working on a variety of plant throughout the block manufacturing site as directed on a planned or reactive basis
• You will be required to record all work on the site CMSS system
• This is a dynamic role, mostly self-motivated and self-supervised with good communication skills

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role ofShiftFitter you will have experience of:

• IOSH training will be an advantage
• Experience of maintaining/replacement of mechanical parts including bearings, shafts, rollers.
• Skilled with hand tools, bearing presses and fitting tools
• Experience in a manufacturing or heavy industry environment
• Experience in maintaining and repair of mechanical equipment
• Experience in welding and/or pipefitting would be advantageous

The role is based at our Blocks site in Alfreton, Derbyshire. The site is easily accessible from Nottingham, Derby, Somercotes, Ripley, South Wingfield, Stonebroom, Sutton-In-Ashfield, Underwood, South Normanton, Matlock, Mansfield, Hucknall and the surrounding areas.
