Job summary

Orion Electrotech are partnering with a leading manufacturing business to recruit an Engineering Team Leader / Assistant Engineering Manager – Nights in Worcestershire. The role blends hands-on maintenance with development of leadership skills and a clear path to Engineering Manager.

The position is 60% hands-on and 40% management, offering a funded Level 5 Management Qualification and ongoing training to maximise equipment reliability and plant efficiency.

Qualifications

• Maintenance engineering experience in Food Manufacturing, FMCG, Manufacturing or Aerospace.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical maintenance background.
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers.
• Hands-on fault-finding skills.
• Desire to develop into a management position.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the engineering team during night shifts.
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
• Provide hands-on support during breakdowns and fault-finding activities.
• Coordinate engineering workloads and ensure maintenance tasks are completed efficiently.
• Work with Production, Operations and Quality to minimise downtime.
• Support continuous improvement projects to increase equipment reliability and plant efficiency.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely and in line with procedures.
• Assist with performance management and development of engineers on shift.
• Ensure equipment is production-ready and operating at maximum efficiency.

Orion Electrotech are working with a leading manufacturing business who are looking for an ambitious engineering professional ready to take the next step in their career.

This opportunity is ideal for aSenior Engineer, Lead Engineer or Engineering Team Leaderlooking to progress into an Engineering Manager position whilst remaining heavily involved on the tools.

This is a60% hands-on / 40% managementrole, where you'll continue to utilise your maintenance and fault-finding expertise while developing your leadership skills and taking responsibility for managing a team of engineers on shift.

As part of the role, the business will also support you through aLevel 5 Management Qualification, providing a clear pathway towards a fully-fledged Engineering Manager position.

Key Responsibilities

• Previous experience leading or mentoring engineers.
• Hands-on approach with excellent fault-finding skills.
• Passion for developing into a management position.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
