Job summary

INSPIRED Pet Nutrition in Thirsk is seeking experienced Shift Engineers with an electrical bias to join the Maintenance team at our manufacturing plant. The role operates on a four-week Dupont cycle with 12-hour days/nights, offering generous benefits and a competitive hourly rate with overtime.

The position focuses on proactive maintenance, safety, and reliability, ensuring production efficiency and asset health across the site. A strong electrical background and CMMS experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified or time served in Electrical engineering discipline (required).
• Qualified or time served in Mechanical engineering discipline (desirable).
• Experienced in the use and operation of CMMS
• Reliability Management expertise (FMECA, RCM, Tribology, CBM, TPM)
• Computer literate with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• NEBOSH with a sound knowledge of behavioural safety at site level - desirable
• Legionella and HACCP awareness - desirable
• Experienced in PLC - desirable

Responsibilities

• Perform planned and predictive maintenance of equipment and complete ad hoc repairs in a timely manner and by prioritising works in line with site priorities to ensure that efficient production is maintained
• Assessing the need for spares by ensuring that the critical spares and spares list is up to date and stock is at the required levels and resolve any issues in a timely manner
• Ensuring a safe environment by conducting all servicing and maintenance activities with minimal risk to employees, products and equipment. Champion safety
• Using root cause analysis on breakdowns to identify actions and drive completion of actions to prevent re-occurrence
• Support the energy reduction and sustainability agenda to reduce environmental impacts across the site by ensuring all actions are completed
• Participate in daily and weekly review sessions to drive the improvement throughout the site.

Job description

We are looking for experienced Shift Engineerswith Electrical bias to join our Engineering team, these roles will be based in our Thirsk manufacturing plant.

On Offer:

• £23.07 per hour (Including Shift Allowance) (£51,824 per annum)
• 43.2 hours per week (24/7 Dupont shift pattern) Days and Nights 12 hour shifts
• Hourly rate with overtime - Paid monthly

The Dupont schedule follows a four-week cycle. Colleagues switch between day and night shifts,(6am to 6pm / 6pm to 6am) often within the same week, and will work for three or four consecutive days at a time. Colleague workdays are interspersed with one to three consecutive days off. Additionally, colleagues receives one block of seven days off during the four-week period.

Please note there is not public transport routes to our factory, therefore you will need your own transport!

The Role of Maintenance Engineer

To establish and maintain safe, compliant andeffective engineering operations that continually develop the site’s asset base by following the Engineering strategy for proactive work whilst responding to breakdowns.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

• Previous experience in same or similar role
• Qualified or time served in Electrical engineering discipline (required)
• Qualified or time served in Mechanical engineering discipline (desirable)
• Experienced in the use and operation of CMMS
• Reliability Management expertise (such as FMECA, RCM, Tribology, CBM, TPM)
• Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• NEBOSH with a sound knowledge of behavioural safety at a site level - desirable
