Job summary

INSPIRED Pet Nutrition is seeking an experienced Shift Engineer with a strong Electrical bias to join our Engineering team at the Kinmel site. This hands-on role focuses on fault finding, preventative maintenance, and driving equipment reliability in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

You will work 12-hour shifts in a 2 days/2 nights/4 off rotation, earning £23.68 per hour plus £2 shift allowance, with a 42.9-hour week.

Qualifications

• Qualified or time served in Electrical Engineering disciplines.
• Mechanical knowledge or multi-skilled experience advantageous.
• Strong electrical fault finding and maintenance experience in manufacturing.
• Experienced in CMMS (Shire) and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned preventive and predictive maintenance across mechanical equipment and complete breakdown repairs to minimise downtime.
• Carry out mechanical fault finding, repair and continuous improvement across production and site machinery.
• Support installation, commissioning and modification of mechanical systems and equipment.
• Assess spare needs by keeping the critical spares list up to date and stock at required levels.
• Escalate issues to the Engineering Manager in a timely manner.
• Ensure a safe environment by performing servicing with minimal risk to people, products and equipment.
• Utilise root cause analysis on breakdowns to prevent recurrence and drive actions.
• Support energy reduction and sustainability initiatives across the site.
• Participate in daily and weekly review sessions to drive site improvements.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Shift Engineer with a strong Electrical bias to join our Engineering team, based at our Kinmel site. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy hands-on fault finding, preventative maintenance, and driving equipment reliability within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

On Offer

£23.68 per hour plus shift allowance - £2.00 per hour, 42.9 hours per week, 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off shift pattern (12 hour shifts on rotation)

• 18:00 / 17:45
• 06:00

Paid monthly last Friday of each month.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform planned preventative and predictive maintenance across a range of mechanical equipment and complete breakdown repairs in a timely manner to minimise downtime
• Carry out mechanical fault finding, repair and continuous improvement activities across production and site machinery
• Support installation, commissioning and modification of mechanical systems and equipment
• Assessing the need for spares by ensuring that the critical spares and spares list is up to date and stock is at the required levels
• Escalate any issues in a timely manner to the Engineering Manager
• Ensuring a safe environment by conducting all servicing and maintenance activities with minimal risk to employees, products and equipment.
• Champion safetyUsing root cause analysis on breakdowns to identify actions and drive completion of actions to prevent re-occurrence
• Support the energy reduction and sustainability agenda to reduce environmental impacts across the site by ensuring all actions are completed
• Participate in daily and weekly review sessions to drive improvement throughout the site

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• Qualified or time served in Electrical Engineering disciplines
• Mechanical knowledge or multi-skilled experience would be advantageous
• Strong Electrical fault finding and maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment
• Experienced in the use and operation of CMMS (Shire)
• Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• NEBOSH with a sound knowledge of behavioural safety at a site level - desirable
• Legionella and HACCP awareness - desirable
• Experience in FMCG - desirable
