Job summary

Veolia Group is hiring a Shift Engineer at the Tyseley Energy Recovery Facility in Birmingham. You will lead a shift team to ensure safe, efficient operation of the ERF and associated plant, adapting to daily demands and emergencies.

We value strong leadership, engineering expertise, and a commitment to health and environmental standards. The role requires experience in electro-mechanical/power engineering and a shift-rotas environment.

Qualifications

• Qualification in electro-mechanical or power engineering is essential.
• Proven leadership with people-management skills and coaching abilities.
• Experience in Energy from Waste or power plant environments is desirable.
• Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.
• Experience in a shift-rotas environment is advantageous.
• Proficient IT literacy with office software and document tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a shift team to ensure safe, efficient ERF operation.
• Act as Control Person ensuring contractors are safely set to work.
• Senior Authorised Person during planned outages for out-of-hours coverage.
• Drive training, mentoring and development of shift staff.
• Maintain statutory records and coordinate with maintenance teams.
