Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience as a shift electrician in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to diagnose and repair electrical/machine faults quickly.
• Familiarity with automation and plant control systems.
• Knowledge of current health and safety regulations and compliance.

Job description

The Job:

• Our West Yorkshire based client are looking for an experienced shift electrician to work alongside their production team of 7 covering a 5 shift roster 24/7. Working in an busy manufacturing environment you will provide electrical expertise to ensure minimal downtime of machinery.
• You will ensure electrical maintenance duties are carried out across the site. Duties could include attending breakdowns, machinery overhauls, completing PPM work and improving the plants availability and reliability by implementing engineering best practice.

Day to day activities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair system and equipment faults
• Provide troubleshooting expertise during equipment failure
• Ensure daily priorities are addressed in order that all production facilities are functional.
• Work to current safety legislation and comply with safety requirements
• Configuration of automation, electrical and instrument control systems
• Ensure breakdown activity is minimised by personal involvement
• CMMS - support the supervisor in the implementation and development of this system
• Contribute to and implement planned maintenance schedules
• Organise, source and recommend spares for purchase and repair
• Be available for out of hours call out and provide out of hours telephone support
• Supervise contractor resources where required
• Work closely with other departments to identify loss and solutions
• Operate continuous improvement methods to eliminate persistent problems
• Perform Root Cause Analysis activity
• Install and commission new equipment
• Provide electrical & control support to the site project department
• Implement best practice with regards to automation and control reliability and new processes
• Participate in training for completed projects
• Manage associated documentation and software to ensure it is up to date and available at all times
