Job summary

Build Recruitment Limited is seeking an ambitious SHEQ Advisor for a permanent role covering sites from North London to the South Midlands. The role involves supporting the SHEQ Manager and project teams to uphold health, safety and environmental standards across multiple sites.

You will carry out risk assessments, audits, and contribute to policy development while working with diverse project teams. Regular travel and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in health, safety and environmental role.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.
  • Experience reviewing risk assessments, method statements and project documentation.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Proactive approach to identifying improvements and driving positive change.

Responsibilities

  • Support the SHEQ Manager in the implementation and continual improvement of health, safety and environmental standards.
  • Review project safety and environmental documentation as part of the approval process.
  • Carry out specialist risk assessments where competent, including Fire Risk Assessments, CosHH Assessments, Environmental Assessments, Lifting Assessments.
  • Conduct desktop audits to ensure project teams maintain compliance with company procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Assist in the development, review and enhancement of company policies, procedures and management systems.
  • Provide advice and support to project teams on SHEQ-related matters.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and help drive best practice across the business.
  • Undertake regular site visits to monitor compliance and support operational teams.

Our client is a specialist UK power engineering contractor providing turkey solutions to high-voltage electrical infrastructure, including substations, grid connections, renewable energy systems and commercial electrical installations. As part of their continued growth, they are looking for an an ambitious and proactive SHEQ Advisor to join their expanding team, covering sites between North London and the South Midlands.

Working closely with the SHEQ Manager and project delivery teams, you will play a key role in supporting the ongoing management, compliance and continual improvement of their health, safety and environmental standards across the business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within a growing organisation, where high performance is recognised and progression opportunities are readily available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Previous experience within a health, safety and environmental role.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.
  • Experience reviewing risk assessments, method statements and project documentation.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work independently and build strong relationships with project teams.
  • A proactive approach to identifying improvements and driving positive change.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience within electrical engineering, utilities, construction or infrastructure environments would be advantageous.
