Job summary

Community Teamwork is seeking a Residential Counselor to work in our Shelter Staff program in a congregate emergency shelter. You will provide life skills support, enforce site rules, and oversee safety using a trauma-informed, client-centered approach.

The role includes intake processing, crisis intervention when needed, and documenting activities per program guidelines. Strong communication and crisis management skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent education.
• Excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent crisis management skills.
• Proficient with basic computer software and data collection.
• Good attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of guests and the site.
• Enforce rules and regulations to ensure smooth operation of the site.
• Respond effectively to emergency situations, document appropriately and communicate according to established guidelines.
• Complete the intake process for new guests.
• Provide support and structure addressing guest/resident problems or concerns.
• Initiate crisis intervention when necessary.
• Record documentation as required by program guidelines.
