Job summary

A leading marine research organization in Liverpool seeks a talented Shelf Seas Modelling Scientist to enhance understanding and prediction of physical processes in shelf seas. Candidates should possess a PhD in physical oceanography or related field, experience in ocean modelling, and programming skills in FORTRAN. Qualifications

  • Experience in ocean hydrodynamics, ideally in shelf sea environments.
  • Skilled scientific programmer, ideally with FORTRAN.
  • Strong numerate degree (science, engineering or mathematics).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

  • Work at the interface between models and observations.
  • Develop and apply data-assimilation modelling systems.
  • Predict physical processes that control plankton growth.
  • Collaborate with the UK Met Office and publish results.
