A leading marine research organization in Liverpool seeks a talented Shelf Seas Modelling Scientist to enhance understanding and prediction of physical processes in shelf seas. Candidates should possess a PhD in physical oceanography or related field, experience in ocean modelling, and programming skills in FORTRAN. The role includes collaboration with national and international partners and opportunities for scientific publication.
Qualifications
Experience in ocean hydrodynamics, ideally in shelf sea environments.
Skilled scientific programmer, ideally with FORTRAN.
Strong numerate degree (science, engineering or mathematics).
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Responsibilities
Work at the interface between models and observations.
Develop and apply data-assimilation modelling systems.
Predict physical processes that control plankton growth.
Collaborate with the UK Met Office and publish results.
