Job summary

HR GO in Thatcham, a busy sheet metal fabrication company, is seeking an experienced operator for the Amada Laser Punch to produce high-quality components to drawings.

You will set up, program and run the machines, interpret drawings, ensure quality through in-process checks, and maintain records. Shifts include day, late or night with flexible start times.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating Amada Laser Punch machines.
• Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes and tooling.
• Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and CNC programmes.
• Competent in basic machine setup, tool changes and minor troubleshooting.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Physically able to handle materials and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program and operate Amada Laser Punch equipment for production runs.
• Interpret engineering drawings, nesting plans and work orders accurately.
• Load tooling, fixtures and materials; adjust machine parameters for material type and thickness.
• Monitor production for quality; perform in-process inspections and final checks.
• Carry out basic preventative maintenance and routine cleaning of machines.
• Report faults and work with maintenance to resolve issues quickly to minimise downtime.
• Maintain accurate production records, timesheets and material usage logs.
• Follow health & safety procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
