Job summary

Norwich City College is seeking a Farm and Estate Technician (Sheep) to lead the college's 150-ewe flock across the 162ha estate. You will manage day‑to‑day livestock operations, lambing, grazing planning and welfare, while training students in practical husbandry and machinery skills.

You will work closely with the Head of Estate on sheep and estate tasks, using modern practices and ensuring compliance with safety and assurance standards. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in sheep husbandry, management and health including lambing and livestock administration (Essential).
• A passion for practical outdoor work and pride in achieving high standards.
• Strong communication skills and an enthusiasm for the land‑based sector.
• The ability to work independently using your own initiative but also within a wider team when required.
• A full UK driving licence (Essential).
• High expectations for safety, cleanliness and presentation.

Responsibilities

• Take day‑to‑day responsibility for the college flock and livestock operations.
• Undertaking daily checks and feeding routines, bedding, breeding cycles and lambing.
• Administer basic treatments or vaccinations and use mobile handling systems.
• Provide practical learning opportunities for students with livestock husbandry and machinery skills.
• Safely operate tractors and telehandlers for feeding, bedding and field tasks.
• Record performance data and maintain electronic records for compliance.
