Job summary

Sustainable Talent is seeking an experienced SHE Manager to lead health, safety and environmental performance across HV substation, civils and M&E projects in Scotland. Qualifications

• NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate required.
• Tech IOSH membership or working towards.
• Experience in substations, power transmission or HV/LV environments.
• Strong knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel Scotland/UK.

Responsibilities

• Provide SHE leadership across HV substation, civils and M&E projects.
• Promote proactive safety culture among operational teams and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with current SHE legislation, company procedures and industry standards.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and behavioural safety observations.
• Support accident, incident and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
• Produce reports, monitor SHE KPIs and communicate lessons learned across the business.
• Advise management on specialist SHE matters including work at height, health, hazardous substances, fire safety and environmental compliance.
• Support and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
• Build strong relationships with operational teams and act as a trusted SHE advisor.

The Opportunity

An established power infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced SHE Manager to support the delivery of HV substation, civils and M&E projects across Scotland.

Reporting to the Senior SHE Manager, you will take ownership of health, safety and environmental performance across multiple operational sites, working closely with project teams, subcontractors and senior leadership to drive a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with company procedures and industry legislation.

This is a field-based role requiring regular travel to substations and construction projects throughout Scotland, making it ideal for someone who enjoys being operationally involved rather than office-based.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide SHE leadership and support across HV substation, civils and M&E projects.
• Promote a proactive safety culture across operational teams and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with current SHE legislation, company procedures and industry standards.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and behavioural safety observations.

Requirements

• NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
• Tech IOSH membership or working towards professional membership.
• Previous SHE experience within substations, power transmission & distribution, utilities or HV/LV electrical environments.
• Strong understanding of construction site safety and CDM principles.
• Experience working within civils, mechanical and electrical project environments.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
• Excellent understanding of UK health, safety and environmental legislation.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout Scotland and occasionally across the UK.
