Job summary

O'Neill & Brennan in South Bristol is seeking a Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Advisor for a major construction project. The role focuses on maintaining and improving health, safety and environmental standards on site.

The successful candidate will lead inspections, RAMS reviews, and training, reporting to the SHEQ Manager, with immediate start and a 2-year fixed-term contract. Competitive package and long-term growth opportunities available.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a construction Health & Safety advisory position.
• NEBOSH Construction qualification.
• CSCS card.
• Recognised First Aid at Work qualification.
• Proven experience conducting site inspections, audits and investigations.
• Strong working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and construction industry best practice.
• Experience delivering safety training and toolbox talks.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain a positive health, safety and environmental culture across the project and supply chain.
• Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits and risk assessments, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
• Review RAMS, ensuring appropriate controls are established for high-risk activities.
• Work closely with site management teams and subcontractors to ensure compliance with company procedures and relevant HSE legislation.
• Assist with the preparation, implementation and ongoing review of Construction Health, Safety and Environmental Plans.
• Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, producing reports and recommendations to prevent recurrence.
• Coordinate and deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and relevant training.
• Monitor environmental compliance, including COSHH requirements, waste management and environmental best practice.
• Support external audits, inspections and engagement with regulatory bodies.
• Maintain accurate SHE documentation, inspection records and performance reports.
