Job summary

NRL Group is seeking an experienced SHE Advisor to join our Chorley site. This hands-on role supports manufacturing and projects, shaping and upholding safety standards across operations.

Based on site with limited ad hoc home working, you will lead risk assessments, deliver training, and promote safe behaviours while ensuring compliance with ISO standards.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH General Certificate required.
• Experience in manufacturing, engineering or project environments.
• Strong understanding of SHE principles in operational settings.
• Experience with ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 management systems.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent SHE advice to ensure compliance with legislation and ISO standards.
• Maintain a strong presence across operations to deliver practical SHE support.
• Identify hazards and support risk assessments to control risks.
• Lead or support incident investigations and implement improvements.
• Monitor activities and take corrective action when standards are not met.
• Deliver SHE inductions, toolbox talks and training sessions.
• Carry out inspections, audits and observations and track actions to completion.
• Support continuous improvement of SHE processes and performance reporting.

Job description

We’re looking for an experienced SHE Advisor to join our client in Chorley. This is an excellent opportunity for a Health & Safety professional who enjoys being hands‑on within operational environments. If you want to make a real difference by shaping and upholding safety standards across manufacturing and projects, this role offers just that.

Salary £50,000 – £55,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Location and Working Pattern

Chorley-based role with operational site presence required. While some flexibility exists for ad hoc home working, this is not a fully hybrid position. A large proportion of this role will involve being visible and engaged with operations onsite.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent SHE advice to ensure compliance with legislation, company procedures and ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 standards
• Maintain a strong presence across operational areas to deliver practical SHE support for manufacturing, projects and site activities
• Identify hazards and support risk assessments to control risks effectively
• Lead or support investigations into incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing improvements
• Monitor activities, intervene where standards are not met, and take appropriate corrective action
• Deliver SHE inductions, toolbox talks and training sessions to promote safe behaviours
• Carry out inspections, audits and observations, ensuring actions are tracked through to completion
• Support continuous improvement of SHE processes, systems and performance reporting

Must-have Requirements

• NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
• Experience working within manufacturing, engineering or project environments
• Strong understanding of SHE principles and the ability to apply them in operational settings
• Working knowledge of ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 management systems
• Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to engage teams at all levels

Nice-to-have Skills

• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification
• IOSH membership at Graduate or Chartered level
• Environmental qualification (e.g. IEMA)
• Experience working under CDM Regulations
• Background in a regulated industry such as nuclear, defence or construction
