Job summary

IDAS (Independent Domestic Abuse Services) in Harrogate & Craven is seeking a committed individual to provide practical and emotional support to victims of sexual violence aged 13+ and their families. You will guide clients through the criminal justice process and coordinate referrals to counselling, health, and legal services.

The role is permanent, part-time (18.5 hours), based in Harrogate/Craven, with comprehensive training, a pension, health plan, and generous pro rata leave.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical and emotional support to victims of sexual violence, including young people aged 13+ and parents of younger children.
• Support clients through the criminal justice process, including court preparation and liaison with police and CPS.
• Complete holistic needs assessments and develop personalised cope and recovery plans.
• Ensure clients are informed of their rights and case progress in line with the Victims Code of Practice, and deliver support around Criminal Injuries Compensation and special measures.
• Make referrals to specialist services such as counselling, sexual health clinics, and legal support.
• Participate in the IDAS helpline and respond to safeguarding concerns appropriately.
• Act as an internal advisor on sexual violence and deliver training to staff and external agencies.
• Champion equality, diversity, and inclusion by ensuring services are accessible and responsive to the needs of all communities, including those who are underrepresented or marginalised.
