Job summary

Carmichael UK are seeking an experienced Setting Out / Site Engineer to join a major Tier 1 civil engineering project in West Wales. The role offers the chance to contribute to a long-term infrastructure programme and work closely with an experienced project team on site.

The candidate will manage quality, technical compliance and site coordination, ensuring high health and safety standards on a major civil project in West Wales.

Qualifications

• Experience as Site Engineer or Setting Out Engineer on major civil projects.
• Strong setting-out capability using Leica survey equipment.
• Experience with QA processes, ITPs, permits and site records.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Setting out works using Leica GPS and Total Station equipment.
• Producing and maintaining QA records, ITPs and site documentation.
• Ensuring works are delivered per drawings, specs and programme.
• Supporting subcontractors and site teams with technical guidance.
• Carrying out as-built surveys and producing reports.
• Assisting with permits, RAMS reviews and site procedure compliance.
• Monitoring quality standards and resolving engineering issues on site.
• Collaborating with the Section Engineer, Sub Agent and project management team.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of a significant infrastructure scheme, working alongside an experienced project team on a long-term programme.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in setting out and engineering delivery on major civil engineering projects, with the ability to manage quality, technical compliance and site coordination while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Setting out works using Leica GPS and Total Station equipment.
• Producing and maintaining accurate QA records, ITPs and site documentation.
• Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and programme requirements.
• Supporting subcontractors and site teams with technical guidance.
• Carrying out as-built surveys and producing relevant reports.
• Assisting with permits, RAMS reviews and ensuring compliance with site procedures.
• Monitoring quality standards and resolving engineering issues on site.
• Working closely with the Section Engineer, Sub Agent and project management team.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Site Engineer or Setting Out Engineer on major civil engineering projects.
• Strong setting out capability using Leica survey equipment.
• Experience with QA processes, ITPs, permits and site records.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• CSCS Card essential.
• SMSTS or SSSTS advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence.
