Job summary

Carmichael UK in the Didcot area is seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer for a major civil project. The role offers a long-term contract with a £375 per day rate and an immediate start. Outside IR35 and weekly payments are included.

The successful engineer will have drainage and utilities experience, strong QA/QC skills, and be proficient with Leica or Trimble surveying equipment, reading drawings, and ITPs. An CSCS card is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as Setting Out Engineer or Site Engineer in civil projects.
• Strong drainage and utilities background.
• Experience completing ITPs and quality records.
• Proficiency with Leica or Trimble surveying equipment.
• Valid CSCS Card.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Setting out and surveying for drainage and associated civil works.
• Providing accurate line and level control across the project.
• Producing and maintaining as‑built records.
• Interpreting engineering drawings and specs.
• Carrying out quality inspections and assurance checks.
• Managing ITPs and related documentation.
• Identifying and resolving technical issues.
• Supporting site management with engineering expertise.
• Coordinating with subcontractors, designers and client representatives.
