Job summary

Fawkes & Reece London is seeking a proactive Setting Out Engineer for a major residential development in Greenwich. This is a 6-month freelance contract with opportunities for progression on future projects with the contractor.

As Setting Out Engineer, you will establish and check line and level controls, coordinate QA documentation, and work closely with site teams to ensure works align with drawings and specifications while maintaining a strong safety and quality focus.

Qualifications

• Experience as Setting Out Engineer on residential or major construction projects.
• Strong line and level control knowledge.
• Experience with QA processes and documentation.
• Proficient with surveying equipment (Total Station, GPS).

Responsibilities

• Carrying out all setting out duties across the residential development.
• Establishing and checking line and level controls throughout the project.
• Ensuring works are completed in accordance with drawings and specifications.
• Managing and maintaining QA documentation and site records.
• Producing and recording as-built information where required.
• Conducting site inspections and supporting quality control procedures.
• Assisting the management team with technical issues and site coordination.
• Working closely with subcontractors to ensure accurate installation of works.

About the Role of Setting Out Engineer

As Setting Out Engineer, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of a large-scale residential scheme valued at £80m. Working closely with the Site Management and Project Teams, you will be responsible for the accurate setting out of works, maintaining quality assurance standards, and ensuring construction activities are delivered in line with project specifications.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer looking to gain experience on a flagship residential development while building long-term relationships with a contractor known for promoting from within.
