Job summary

Salter Grange Limited is seeking a skilled Setting Out Engineer to join a major residential development in South London. You will lead setting out for piling, groundworks, foundations and structural works, and maintain accurate engineering records.

You'll work with a Senior Engineer and site team from groundworks through completion, reading drawings, coordinating with managers and subcontractors, and ensuring quality and dimension checks across your block.

Qualifications

• CSCS qualification required.
• Experience with Total Station/Leica equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.

Setting Out Engineer - South London - Residential Development

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join the team on a major residential development in South London. The project is at an early stage, with piling due to commence shortly, providing an excellent opportunity to join from the groundworks phase and remain involved throughout the construction programme. The development will comprise multiple residential blocks, including a high-rise tower, delivering a significant number of new homes alongside landscaped communal areas, public realm and associated infrastructure. You will work alongside an experienced Senior Engineer and wider site team, taking responsibility for setting out and engineering duties across your allocated block.

The Role:

• Setting out for piling, groundworks, foundations and structural works
• Establishing control points, grids and levels
• Setting out from drawings and coordinates
• Checking dimensions, levels and alignment
• Liaising with Site Managers and subcontractors
• Carrying out quality and dimensional checks
• Maintaining accurate engineering records

About You:

• Previous experience as a Setting Out Engineer on residential or major construction projects
• Strong groundworks / RC experience
• Confident using Total Station / Leica
• Able to read and interpret technical drawings
• CSCS qualified
• Good communication and organisational skills

You will be joining a highly regarded main contractor with an established London residential portfolio, including large-scale, multi-block developments and high-rise schemes. This is a long-term opportunity, joining the project at the start of its construction phase with the potential for a permanent position for the right individual.
