Responsibilities

• Setting out structural, architectural and general construction elements.
• Establishing and maintaining accurate control points and benchmarks.
• Carrying out precise checks and surveys throughout the works.
• Ensuring all setting out is completed accurately and in accordance with drawings and specifications.
• Working closely with Site Managers, Engineers, subcontractors and the wider project team.
• Checking dimensions, levels, coordinates and tolerances.
• Identifying and resolving discrepancies before they impact the works.
• Maintaining clear and accurate survey records.
• Supporting quality control and ensuring a high standard of dimensional accuracy is maintained throughout the build.

Freelance Setting Out Engineer - 14-Storey Office Development

We are looking for an experienced Freelance Setting Out Engineer to join the site team on a major new-build 14-storey office development in Waterloo, London.

This is a key site-based role with a strong focus on accuracy, precision and quality of setting out throughout the project. The successful candidate will have a proven track record working on large-scale commercial or high-rise construction projects and will be confident taking responsibility for setting out works to a high standard.

The Role

You will be responsible for providing accurate and reliable setting out across the development, working closely with the Site Management and Construction teams to ensure works are delivered correctly and to specification.

Key responsibilities will include:

About You

We are looking for someone who is technically strong, methodical and exceptionally accurate.

You will ideally have:

• Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer on major construction projects.
• Experience working on commercial, high-rise or complex new-build developments.
• Excellent knowledge of construction drawings, coordinates, levels and tolerances.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to getting things right first time.
• The ability to work independently and take ownership of setting out.
• Good communication skills and the confidence to liaise with site teams and subcontractors.
• Relevant engineering/construction qualifications or equivalent experience.
• Experience with modern surveying equipment and relevant surveying software
