Job summary

Nicholas Associates Group Limited is seeking a Setting Out Engineer to support two major infrastructure projects across the West Midlands. The role focuses on setting out and engineering duties across civil and structural packages, with emphasis on reinforced concrete works.

You will support QA processes, inspect works, and assist with technical queries while developing your career within a growing project team. Opportunities exist in Washwood Heath and Merry Hill.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline or equivalent.
• CSCS Card is required as a minimum.
• Experience with reinforced concrete structures and civil works.

Responsibilities

• Setting out for reinforced concrete structures, groundworks and civil works.
• Establishing and maintaining site control points and survey information.
• Carrying out QA inspections, as-built surveys and documentation.
• Checking levels, lines and dimensions against drawings and specs.
• Supporting subcontractor coordination and site supervision activities.
• Assisting with technical queries and resolving engineering issues on site.
• Ensuring works are delivered safely and on programme.
• Supporting Site Engineers and Site Management with planning and delivery.

Job description

A well-established Tier 2 Civil Engineering and Structures contractor is looking to appoint Setting Out Engineers to support the delivery of two major infrastructure projects across the West Midlands.

This is an excellent opportunity for Engineers from strong civil engineering background and reinforced concrete experience and is keen to take on additional responsibility as part of a growing project team. The company can offer genuine long-term career progression and exposure to significant infrastructure works.

The Role

You will be responsible for setting out and engineering duties across a range of civil engineering and structural packages.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Setting out for reinforced concrete structures, groundworks and associated civil engineering works.
• Establishing and maintaining site control points and survey information.
• Carrying out quality inspections, as-built surveys and QA documentation.
• Checking levels, line and dimensions against design drawings and specifications.
• Supporting subcontractor coordination and site supervision activities.
• Assisting with technical queries and resolving engineering issues on site.
• Ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately and in accordance with programme requirements.
• Supporting Site Engineers and Site Management with planning and delivery activities.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Setting Out Engineer within civil engineering projects.
• Strong understanding of reinforced concrete structures and construction techniques.
• Experience working on infrastructure, highways, structures, rail, energy or major civils projects.
• Competent using Leica, Trimble or Topcon surveying equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of QA processes, inspections and as-built surveys.
• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• CSCS Card as a minimum.
• Ambitious individual looking to develop their career and take on greater responsibility.
