The YOU Trust in Southsea, Portsmouth is seeking a dedicated Sessional Support Worker to assist adults with mental health needs in a supportive home setting. You will provide person-centred care, promote independence, and help with daily living tasks.

The role involves flexible shifts, including sleep-ins and weekends, and requires safeguarding screening and DBS checks. Salary is paid per hour (£14.28–£17.85) with benefits such as enhanced annual leave, pension, and funded training

Qualifications

• Experience in mental health services or lived experiences with individuals who have forensic/offending histories and/or complex needs.
• Understanding of recovery-focused and asset-based support and how to apply positive risk management.
• Understanding of substance misuse issues and how to work with clients to safely manage their misuse.
• Understanding personalisation in the context of support, and best practices around person-centred working and positive risk taking.

Sessional Support Worker

Location: Southsea, Portsmouth

Salary: £14.28 - £17.85 per hour

The primary purpose of a recovery partner is to support people with enduring mental health diagnosis to develop their skills in order to maintain their independence, health and wellbeing. You will work as part of a team providing person – centred care, which includes tasks to ensure safe and comfortable accommodation, and being proactively involved in activities both inside and outside of the home.

You are passionate about working together and getting to know each person in the house and helping them to develop greater self – reliance and independence to better manager their own mental and physical well- being.

The appointed Sessional Support Worker will:

• Have experience of working in mental health services or lived experiences, working with individuals who have forensic/offending history and/or complex needs.
