Orion Electrotech Ltd is seeking a hands-on Service Technician in Totnes, Devon. You will diagnose faults, repair precision instruments, calibrate and test devices to ensure peak performance.

This role demands strong electronics and mechanical skills, with a focus on delivering reliable service and timely turnaround. The position offers circa £30,000 salary, 25 days holiday, pension contributions, life assurance and a wellbeing programme as part of a comprehensive benefits package.

Formación

• Hands-on service/repair experience in electronics or manufacturing environments
• PCB handling, soldering and fault-finding experience
• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical hands-on skills
• Good computer literacy including Excel
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent)

Responsabilidades

• Diagnose faults and repair returned electronic instruments
• Disassemble and reassemble complex equipment
• Electronic fault finding and PCB-level repair work
• Solder components and replace parts as needed
• Calibrate and test equipment to specifications
• Record work accurately in MRP system
• Follow quality standards and service schedules
• Coordinate with engineering and production for turnaround
• Manage workload and provide progress updates

As a Service Technician, you'll be responsible for servicing, repairing, calibrating and testing sophisticated electronic instruments, ensuring customers continue to receive the highest levels of performance and reliability.

The Role

As a Service Technician, your responsibilities will include:

• Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs on returned electronic instruments
• Mechanical disassembly and reassembly of complex equipment
• Electronic fault finding and PCB-level repair work
• Soldering and component replacement where required
• Performing calibration and full functional testing
• Recording work accurately within the company MRP system
• Working to quality standards, procedures and service schedules
• Collaborating with engineering and production teams to ensure efficient turnaround times
• Managing your workload and providing regular progress updates

What We're Looking For

The ideal Service Technician will have:

• Previous experience in an electronics, repair, service or manufacturing environment
• PCB handling, soldering and electronic fault-finding experience
• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical hands-on skills
• Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• The ability to work independently whilst contributing to a team environment
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English
