Job summary

Hunter Selection is seeking a multi-skilled Service & Maintenance Engineer to service, calibrate and repair specialist equipment across the UK and Europe. The role combines field service at customer sites with workshop-based maintenance, ideal for hands-on engineers who enjoy variety.

You will work in a collaborative team, travel UK-wide with occasional trips to Europe, and benefit from long-term career development and ongoing training.

Qualifications

  • Electrical engineering qualification required (City & Guilds, ONC, HNC, Apprenticeship or equivalent).
  • Experience servicing, fault finding, maintenance and repair of electrical and electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Methodical approach with attention to detail.
  • Good communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Organisational and time-management abilities.
  • UK driving licence required.
  • Willing to travel UK and Europe.

Responsibilities

  • Service, calibration, fault finding and repair of electrical and electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Planned preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs.
  • Build, test and commission equipment.
  • Install and support equipment at customer sites.
  • Prepare and review service and calibration documentation.
  • Liaise with customers regarding repairs and support.

Service & Maintenance Engineer

The Role

As a Service & Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for servicing, calibrating, maintaining and repairing a range of specialist equipment both at customer sites and within the company's workshop. The role combines customer-facing field service activities with internal maintenance responsibilities, making it ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys variety.

Key duties
  • Service, calibration, fault finding and repair of specialist electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and breakdown repairs
  • Building, testing and commissioning equipment
  • Installation and support of equipment at customer sites
  • Producing and reviewing service and calibration documentation
  • Liaising with customers regarding repairs, service requirements and technical support
  • Supporting facility and site maintenance activities
  • Working closely with colleagues to drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Regular travel throughout the UK with occasional travel across Europe
Skills & Experience

To be successful in this position, you should have:

  • A recognised electrical engineering qualification such as City & Guilds, ONC, HNC, Apprenticeship or equivalent
  • Experience in servicing, fault finding, maintenance and repair of electrical and electro-mechanical equipment
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • A methodical approach with excellent attention to detail
  • Good communication skills and a professional customer-facing manner
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities
  • IT literacy with experience using Windows-based systems
  • A full UK driving licence
  • A valid passport and willingness to travel when required
Additional desirable skills
  • Experience carrying out calibration work
  • Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance programmes
  • Facilities or building maintenance experience
  • Experience working within laboratory, scientific, pharmaceutical, healthcare, manufacturing or regulated environments
