Job summary

Octane Recruitment is helping a fast-fit automotive business in Cambridge recruit a Vehicle Technician. The role covers light and full-service work at the retail centre, with a focus on brakes, exhausts, batteries, suspension and tyre diagnostics.

Salary ranges £32,000–£34,000 with an uncapped OTE of £3,600. Mon-Fri 08:30-17:30, Saturdays on rota 08:30-16:00 with a day off in week. Training and progression opportunities are extensive.

Qualifications

• Valid UK driving licence (essential).
• Experience working as a Vehicle Technician (no formal qualifications required).
• Passion for the automotive industry and willingness to develop further.
• Interest in learning about hybrid vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Perform light and full-service tasks.
• Carry out fast-fit duties such as replacing brakes, exhausts, car batteries, and suspension parts.
• Operate wheel alignment machinery, read measurements, and adjust accordingly.
• Conduct tyre diagnostics, fast-fit replacements, and repairs across various makes.
• Collaborate with workshop team to meet targets.

Shift and schedule

08:30 - 17:30 Monday to Friday; Saturdays 08:30 - 16:00 on a rota with a day off in the week.

Vehicle Technician Responsibilities

• Light and full-service work
• Fast fit duties such as replacing and repairing brakes, exhausts, car batteries, suspension parts
• Operating precision wheel alignment machinery, interpreting readings, and completing accurate adjustments
• Carrying out precise tyre diagnostics, fast-fit replacements, and repairs across various vehicle makes
• Working with the rest of the workshop to achieve targets
• Work as a team with the other Vehicle Technicians

Required qualifications / experience

• Valid UK driving licence - Essential
• Experience working as a Vehicle Technician (no qualifications needed)
• Have a passion for the Automotive industry and want to develop further
• Want to learn and develop your knowledge of Hybrid cars
