A leading manufacturer in Greater Manchester is recruiting a Service Technician to service, repair, calibrate and test portable combustion and emission analysers. The role offers a permanent, full-time position with a salary up to £31,000, excellent benefits and clear career progression.

You will diagnose faults, read circuit diagrams, assemble components, and ensure products meet high quality standards before delivery to customers. Training and development opportunities are included.

Qualifications

• Experience in service, calibration, electronic testing or similar technical role.
• ONC in Electronic Testing or equivalent qualification.
• Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and repair skills.
• Ability to read circuit diagrams and engineering drawings.
• Experience with soldering, electronic and mechanical assembly techniques.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
• Proficient with PC hardware/software for product setup and testing.
• Understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement.
• Health & Safety requirements awareness in manufacturing/engineering.

Responsibilities

• Service, repair, calibrate and test analysers in line with ISO 9001 standards.
• Prepare, configure and programme products prior to calibration and testing.
• Complete Calibration Test Reports and technical documentation.
• Diagnose faults and repair non-conforming products.
• Read and interpret circuit diagrams and engineering drawings.
• Carry out mechanical assembly and soldering as required.
• Support continuous improvement to enhance efficiency, productivity and quality.
• Collaborate with colleagues across departments.
• Adhere to Health & Safety policies; provide support during busy periods.

The Role

As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for servicing, repairing, calibrating, and testing a range of portable combustion and emission analysers, ensuring products meet the highest quality standards before reaching customers.

Working within a quality-driven environment, you will play a key role in maintaining performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the department.

Key Responsibilities

• Service, repair, calibrate, and test combustion and emission analysers in line with ISO 9001 standards.


• Prepare, configure, and programme products prior to calibration and testing.


• Complete accurate Calibration Test Reports and technical documentation.


• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to non-conforming products.


• Read and interpret circuit diagrams and engineering drawings.


• Carry out mechanical assembly and soldering activities where required.


• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality.


• Work collaboratively with colleagues across multiple departments.


• Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures.


• Provide support during busy periods, including occasional overtime when required.

Essential Requirements:

• Previous experience in a service, calibration, electronic testing, or similar technical role.


• ONC in Electronic Testing or an equivalent qualification.


• Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and repair skills.


• Ability to read and understand circuit diagrams and engineering drawings.


• Experience with soldering, electronic assembly, and mechanical assembly techniques.


• Good communication and documentation skills.


• Confident using PC hardware and software for product setup, configuration, and testing.


• Understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.


• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.


• Awareness of Health & Safety requirements within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
