Job summary

Summer-Browning Associates is seeking a Service Owner for an initial 12-month assignment with the option to extend, focusing on Digital Workplace and AI services in a London-based, hybrid role.

The candidate will steer cloud transformation efforts, ensure compliance with the GDS Service Standard, and lead cross-functional teams across product, design, architecture, and governance.

A security clearance and experience in Tier 2/3 government environments are highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Active security clearance is required or highly desirable.
• Experience as Service Owner or Deputy Service Owner in cloud transformation programs.
• Strong understanding of the GDS Service Standard and guiding services through Discovery, Alpha, Beta and Live stages.
• Proven ability to own or enhance digital workplace, collaboration, productivity, end-user computing, knowledge management, or AI-enabled services.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams including product management, UCD, architecture, BA, suppliers and service management.
• Experience developing business cases with cost modelling, benefits realisation, and workforce planning.
• Strong governance, assurance, and risk management skills with executive reporting.
• Practical understanding of ITIL 4 and agile service delivery.
• Experience in Tier 2/3 secure environments, government or defence, is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead service ownership for digital workplace and AI-enabled services.
• Guide services through Discovery, Alpha, Beta and Live phases in line with GDS standards.
• Develop or enhance digital workplace, collaboration and knowledge management offerings.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams spanning product, design, architecture, BA, suppliers and service management.
• Build credible business cases, including cost modelling and benefits realisation.
• Support governance, assurance, and risk management activities and senior stakeholder reporting.
• Apply ITIL 4 principles within an agile service delivery context.
• Operate in secure government environments, especially Tier 2/3 settings.

Summer-Browning Associates is currently supporting our central government client, who is seeking a Service Owner for an initial 12-month assignment with the option to extend.

Location: London | Hybrid

The ideal candidate will possess an active security clearance and a proven background in Service Owner Management, complemented by the following valuable skills and experiences:

• Significant experience as a Service Owner or Deputy Service Owner in cloud transformation programs.
• A deep understanding of the GDS Service Standard, with a proven track record of successfully guiding services through the Discovery, Alpha, Beta, and Live phases.
• Expertise in owning, developing, or enhancing digital workplace, collaboration, productivity, end-user computing, knowledge management, or AI-enabled services, contributing to innovative solutions.
• Demonstrated strength in leading multidisciplinary teams across product management, user-centered design (UCD), architecture, business analysis, suppliers, and service management, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Proficiency in developing or contributing to business cases, with a focus on cost modelling, benefits realization, service transition, and workforce planning, driving organizational success.
• Strong capabilities in governance, assurance, and risk management, with experience in supporting service boards, executive reporting, and facilitating senior stakeholder decision-making.
• A practical understanding of ITIL 4 and its application in agile service delivery environments.
• Experience working in Tier 2/3 secure environments, particularly within the Government or defence, is highly desirable.
