Job summary

Boden Group is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead safe, compliant delivery of maintenance services on a defence estate in North Yorkshire. You’ll coordinate site teams and suppliers while upholding safety, quality and performance standards.

Ideal candidates have a strong technical maintenance background (plumbing, mechanical or machinery) and leadership skills to manage day-to-day service delivery. This on-site role includes training for Authorised Person responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Practical maintenance background in planned and reactive environments.
• Strong technical background in plumbing, mechanical or machinery maintenance.
• Aircraft engineering or similar maintenance experience considered.
• An HNC or equivalent in building/engineering.
• A management-level Health & Safety qualification such as SMSTS.

Responsibilities

• Lead planned and reactive maintenance against safety, quality and performance targets.
• Coordinate operatives, supply chain partners, equipment and authorisations.
• Oversee safe systems of work, risk assessments and method statements.
• Maintain CAFM records and ensure documentation is completed promptly.
• Resolve operational issues and build relationships with end users and stakeholders.
• Manage small billable works and monitor costs and commercial performance.
• Monitor costs and contribute to forward maintenance planning.
• Coach and supervise teams with a positive safety culture.

Job description

An experienced Service Manager is required to lead the safe, compliant delivery of planned and reactive maintenance services across a defence estate in North Yorkshire. You'll coordinate site teams and supply chain partners while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and operational performance.

The Role

As The Service Manager, You'll

• Lead planned and reactive maintenance against safety, quality and performance targets.
• Coordinate operatives, supply chain partners, equipment, skills and required authorisations.
• Oversee safe systems of work, risk assessments and method statements.
• Maintain accurate CAFM records and ensure supporting documentation is completed promptly.
• Resolve operational issues and build strong relationships with end users and stakeholders.
• Manage small billable works, including rough orders of cost and commercial performance.
• Monitor costs, manage operational risk and contribute to forward maintenance planning.
• Coach and supervise teams while promoting a positive safety culture.

About You

To Be Successful As The Service Manager, You'll Have

• Practical experience within planned and reactive maintenance environments.
• A strong technical background in plumbing, mechanical or machinery maintenance.
• Relevant aircraft engineering or similar maintenance experience will also be considered.
• An HNC or equivalent experience in a relevant building or engineering discipline.
• A management-level Health & Safety qualification, such as SMSTS.
• Strong leadership, decision-making and stakeholder management skills.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and CAFM systems.
• Willingness to undertake additional Authorised Person responsibilities with appropriate training.
