Job summary

The Holt Recruitment is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service, maintain and repair construction plant machinery at customer sites across the UK.

You will diagnose breakdowns, carry out repairs, perform planned maintenance, use electronic diagnostics, complete digital documentation and liaise with parts to minimise downtime, with full driving license required and opportunities for training and progression.

Qualifications

Recognised engineering qualification such as NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent.
Experience on construction plant or heavy machinery.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems and diagnostics.
Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Good IT skills for digital service records.
A full UK driving licence.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

A recognised engineering qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent in Construction Plant Maintenance, Heavy Vehicle (HGV), Light Vehicle, Agricultural Engineering, or a similar mechanical engineering discipline.
Experience working on construction plant, heavy equipment or similar machinery.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, transmissions, electronic diagnostics and fault finding.
Excellent fault‑finding and problem‑solving abilities.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Good IT skills for completing digital service documentation.
A positive attitude with the ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
A full UK driving licence.
