Job summary

Talent in Nottingham is seeking an experienced IT Service Design & Transition Specialist to lead the rollout of new digital services into live operations for a retail client. Nottingham (Hybrid – 3 days week on site) and a 6‑month initial contract (Inside IR35) frame the opportunity.

You will bridge delivery teams and live support to ensure every release is resilient, scalable, and fully prepared for day one operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in Service Design and Transition at management level.
• ITIL framework knowledge with cloud, microservices, and API experience.
• Proven track record in complex digital, web, or cloud re-platforming projects.
• Strong stakeholder management and executive-level influence.
• Experience with migration challenges, data mapping, and continuous service improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the operational readiness lifecycle and define acceptance criteria.
• Coordinate handovers with delivery teams and third-party vendors.
• Implement ITIL-aligned transitions across Agile and Waterfall project streams.
• Negotiate SLAs, OLAs, and run a risk-aware migration plan.
• Oversee change adoption to minimise go-live disruption.
• Shape RunOps and future operational support structures.

We currently require an experienced IT Service Design & Transition Specialist to lead the rollout of new digital services into live operations for a retail client based in Nottingham. You will bridge delivery teams and live support to ensure every release is resilient, scalable, and fully prepared for day one operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the operational readiness lifecycle, establishing service acceptance criteria, support models, and run books.
• Partner with senior leadership, internal delivery teams, and third-party vendors to coordinate seamless handovers.
• Implement ITIL-aligned transition frameworks across both Agile and Waterfall project streams.
• Negotiate SLAs, OLAs, and support agreements while mitigating operational risks during dual-running and migrations.
• Oversee change adoption strategies to minimize service disruption during go-live.
• Help shape the evolution of RunOps and operational support structures.

Required Experience & Skills

• Management level experience focused on Service Design and Transition.
• Strong ITIL framework knowledge with practical experience across cloud environments, microservices, and API architectures.
• Proven track record supporting complex digital, web, or cloud re-platforming projects.
• Accomplished stakeholder manager with experience leading teams and influencing executive level decision makers.
• Familiarity with migration challenges, including system integrations, data mapping, and continuous service improvement.
• Proficient with Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint.
