Job summary

Swain Group is seeking an experienced Fleet Service Manager (south) to lead a 24-hour workshop operation in Rochester, Kent, with responsibility for a large and complex fleet of vehicles, trailers and cranes. The role requires strong health and safety leadership and a focus on service levels and efficiency.

You will manage workshop staff, control costs and oversee the Parts Department, ensuring regulatory compliance and alignment with business objectives.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' experience managing a large 24-hour workshop operation.
• Deep knowledge of road transport regulation, operator licensing, fleet governance and assurance.
• IT literate and proficient in MS office suite.

Responsibilities

• Manage and control day-to-day workshop activities to ensure health and safety guidelines are adhered to.
• Ensure scheduled repair times are adhered to and WIP and cost controls followed.
• Oversee parts department, stock levels and third-party repairs within budgets.
• Manage staff payroll, recruitment and development of workshop staff.
• Resolve customer/service provider/invoice queries and monitor KPI performance.

workshop in line with business needs.Having recently introduced the Key 2 Fleet Management System, the challenge now is to maximise utilisation of the system, ensure business and legal requirements are met, costs are controlled, service levels maintained and all key stakeholders are kept informed.

Duties and Responsibilities

Manage and control day to day workshop activities to ensure that all Health and Safety guidelines are adhered toManage and control day-to-day workshop activities to ensure that customer requirements, quality and standards are maintained. (K2)Manage and control day-to-day ATF Lane and Tachograph lane activities Ensure scheduled repair times are adhered to. (K2)Ensure all WIP and Cost controls are followed as per company policy (K2)Effective management of hours bought and sold including salaries and overtime.Manage the productivity and efficiency of all workshop and support staff. (K2) Min 90%Control workshop costs, including repair and maintenance spend and third-party repairs in line with agreed budgets.Oversee the management and development of the Parts Department including maintenance of stock levels. No stock adjustments / lossesEnsure maintenance standards are compliant with legal and company obligations.Manage KPI's and workshop debt.Responsible for the Management, recruitment, and development of Workshop staff. Ensure payroll is accurate and on time (Recruitment authority through (Fleet Engineer)Resolve customer/ Service provider/invoice queriesMonthly review meeting with our 3rd party supplier Yearly audits with our 3rd party supplier to ensure that all quality standards and compliance are maintainedEnsure high levels of service and customer satisfaction are met as per operational KPI's

Person Specification

Job Purpose
