Job summary

Southeastern Railway is seeking a Service Engineer Level 3 at Slade Green Depot to carry out primary defect repairs on in-service units and diagnose faults using schematics. You will liaise with external stakeholders as needed and support time-based maintenance packages.

Candidates should have NVQ3 in engineering maintenance (electrical or mechanical), a BTEC Technical Certificate, IT skills, and a full driving licence. A safety-critical medical is required before offer.

Qualifications

  • NVQ 3 in engineering maintenance or equivalent.
  • Technical Certificate in Engineering (BTEC) held.
  • Able to read schematics/diagrams and perform first level fault finding.
  • Rolling stock maintenance experience desirable.

What You’ll Do
  • As an SE3, you will be responsible for primary defect repairs to in service units, including defect troubleshooting, defect diagnosis, work scope adherence and defect rectification. You will get the chance to work on our newest/latest fleet of trains that southeastern has to offer. You will also liaise with external stakeholders in all duties where necessary.
  • Predominately electrical fault finding, using schematic drawings and on train monitoring systems
  • Reporting directly to the SE5, you will carry out all engineering activities, including exams, defect rectification, modifications, and time based maintenance packages and repair. At southeastern we are dedicated to providing our customers with a reliable transport structure, striving to complete tasks and work with colleagues effectively to achieve the required standards and specifications.
The Experience You’ll Need
  • Experienced in an engineering discipline (Electrical Based).
  • NVQ 3 in engineering maintenance, electrical, mechanical or equivalent.
  • Hold a Technical Certificate in Engineering BTEC.
  • Have intermediate IT skills and able to interpret data.
  • Able to carry out first level fault finding and follow schematics and diagrams.
  • Physically fit and able to pass a medical to engineering standard.
  • Previous rolling stock maintenance experience desirable.
  • Possess a full Drivers Licence.
