Job summary

The Recruitment Fix is seeking a Maintenance Engineer with a strong BMS background and electrical bias to join our client’s team in Nottingham. You will carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on HVAC and BMS systems across commercial and industrial environments.

Candidates should have proven BMS experience, be able to fault find on fans, motors, valves, actuators, sensors, and control panels, and hold a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in the Building Management Systems (BMS) industry.
  • Strong electrical background with fault finding and testing.
  • Knowledge of HVAC plant and associated control systems.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance on HVAC and BMS equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and repair fans, motors, valves, actuators, and sensors.
  • Perform electrical fault finding on panels and wiring.
  • Produce detailed maintenance reports and service documentation.
  • Liaise with customers and site personnel.

Maintenance Engineer (BMS & Electrical Bias)

Our client is a specialist Building Management Systems (BMS) and HVAC controls company, delivering installation, commissioning, maintenance, and support services across commercial, industrial, and public sector environments.

Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Engineer with a strong BMS background and electrical bias to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, fault finding, and repairs on HVAC plant control systems and associated equipment including fans, motors, control valves, actuators, sensors, and BMS controls.

This role requires a hands-on engineer with excellent diagnostic skills, a good understanding of electrical control systems, and experience working within HVAC and BMS environments.

The Job
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on HVAC and BMS-related equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and undertake repairs on:
    • Supply and extract fans
    • Electric motors
    • Control valves and actuators
    • Pumps and associated plant
    • Sensors, controllers, and field devices
    • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Perform electrical fault finding on control panels, field wiring, and control circuits.
  • Inspect, test, and commission HVAC control equipment following maintenance activities.
  • Identify and rectify control system issues affecting building performance.
  • Complete functional testing of HVAC systems and associated controls.
  • Calibrate sensors and field devices to maintain system accuracy.
  • Produce detailed maintenance reports and service documentation.
  • Liaise professionally with customers and site personnel.
  • Recommend system improvements and energy-saving opportunities where appropriate.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
  • Participate in reactive call-out support and out-of-hours emergency breakdown response when required.
About you
  • Proven experience working within the Building Management Systems (BMS) industry.
  • Strong electrical background with experience in fault finding and testing.
  • Knowledge of HVAC plant and associated control systems.
  • Experience maintaining:
    • Fans and fan coil units
    • Motors and motor control systems
    • Control valves and actuators
    • Pumps and pressurisation systems
    • HVAC control panels
  • Understanding of control strategies, HVAC sequences, and building services systems.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience using electrical test equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
