RTC PLANT SERVICES LTD, based in Peterborough, is seeking a full-time Field Service Engineer to maintain and repair plant and industrial equipment on customer sites and in the workshop. You will diagnose faults, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and provide clear technical support.

Travel to client sites and collaboration with the service team are essential, with emphasis on safety and quality.

Role Description

This is a full-time field Service Engineer role based in Peterborough. The Service Engineer will carry out on-site maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on plant and machinery at customer locations and in the workshop. Day-to-day responsibilities include identifying faults, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, providing technical support, and ensuring all work meets safety and compliance standards. The role involves preparing service reports, maintaining accurate records, coordinating with the service team, and communicating clearly with customers about findings and recommended actions. The Service Engineer will also support continuous improvement efforts, assist with installation and commissioning of equipment, and contribute to a positive, cooperative working environment.

Qualifications

• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for mechanical and electrical issues on plant machinery.
• Practical field service experience, including on-site visits, customer interaction, and independent work at client locations.
• Clear and professional communication skills for liaising with customers, colleagues, and suppliers.
• Technical support capabilities, including advising customers on equipment use, performance issues, and basic training.
• Hands-on maintenance and repair skills, with the ability to perform preventive and corrective work safely and efficiently.
• Good understanding of health and safety practices and willingness to follow company procedures and industry standards.
• Ability to read technical manuals, diagrams, and service documentation, and use diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Valid driving license and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
• Previous experience in plant, industrial, or heavy machinery service is beneficial but not mandatory.
