Job summary

AFS Limited requires a Compressed Air Service Engineer with either a mechanical or electrical bias to join their expanding service team operating out of the Trafford Park office in Manchester.

The role focuses on diagnosing faults, performing maintenance, installing and commissioning compressors and air systems, with travel across the UK and occasional overnight stays. A robust, customer‑facing technician with a can‑do attitude is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in the compressed air industry is desirable.
• Experience with low pressure compressed air systems is required.
• Experience with high pressure compressed air systems desirable but not essential.
• IPAF license desirable but not essential.
• F Gas qualification desirable but not essential.
• Good interpersonal and IT skills.
• Desire to provide a high quality of workmanship and a ‘can do’ attitude.
• Current UK driving license.

Responsibilities

• Effectively diagnose mechanical and electrical faults on customer equipment.
• Pipework installations.
• Undertake planned and preventative maintenance on compressors, dryers and ancillary equipment on compressed air systems.
• Perform emergency breakdown fault finding and repair.
• Install and commission compressors and compressed air systems.
• Recommend additional works that may assist customers or enhance the company’s performance.
• Maintain good professional working relationships with all existing and new customers.
• Maintain company vehicle, PPE, testing and other company equipment in accordance with guidelines.

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements

• Field based role, operating out of Trafford Park office
• Must be willing to travel throughout the UK with occasional overnight stays as required

Competencies

• Previous experience of working with compressed air equipment
• Previous experience in a field-based service role
• Sound electrical & mechanical fault-finding experience
• Friendly approach with good inter-personal skills
• Candidate needs to be able to work alone but also work well with the existing team
• Working knowledge of EHS processes, documentation, Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Personal Safety
