Carrier is seeking a skilled Service Engineer to repair and maintain diesel-powered equipment (pumps and generators) in Inverness depot and on-site locations. The role emphasizes Health & Safety compliance, operational readiness, and a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities include servicing, diagnosing faults, and performing major overhauls while maintaining a safe, organized workspace. A full UK driving licence is required and occasional travel to sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Mechanical experience with plant equipment, pumps, generators and diesel engines.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification; M&E related apprenticeship preferred.
• Full UK Driving licence or equivalent.

• Prepare and inspect equipment at the depot to ensure operation before deployment.
• Carry out major overhauls and refurbishments of end-of-life equipment.
• Diagnose faults and perform repairs to minimise downtime.
• Collaborate with service team, hire controller and foreman for smooth operations.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company policies.
• Maintain clean, organized working environment and safety standards.
• Travel to customer sites and participate in on-call rota (1 week in 4).

About the role:

Carrier Rental Systems delivers immediate, 24/7 nationwide rental solutions - designed to keep your operations running smoothly and protect against the stress of unexpected downtime. The role is part of Pumps & Power division.

We are looking for a skilled and reliable Service Engineer to repair and maintain diesel-powered equipment (pumps & generators) in both depot in Inverness and on-site environments. The role requires a strong focus on Health & Safety, with full compliance to regulations and company policies at all times, while maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment to ensure all equipment meets required safety and quality standards and customer operations run without interruption.

What you’ll be doing:

• Servicing, maintaining, and repairing pumps, generators, and diesel-powered equipment in both depot- and field-based environments.
• Preparing and inspecting equipment at the depot to ensure it is fully operational before deployment.
• Carrying out major overhauls and refurbishments of end-of-life equipment.

What we are looking for:

• Mechanical experience, ideally working with plant equipment, pumps, generators, and diesel engines.
• Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 3, an M&E related apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Full UK Driving licence or equivalent.

Pay Range

The annual base salary for this position is between £36,799- 40,961. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.

Other Compensation

This position is entitled to call out payments and overtime.
