Job summary

Speedy Hire is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service generators and compressors across Bristol and surrounding areas. You will work with gensets from 20–1400 kVA, fault-finding and repairing on customer sites, with a company van and fuel card provided. Overtime is paid, and there is a 1-in-4 on-call rota with additional payments.

• Experience with fault-finding, servicing and repairs.
• Background in generators, compressors, plant or similar equipment.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing generators (20–1400 kVA) and compressors at customer sites.
• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults and carrying out repairs.
• Attending breakdowns and completing planned maintenance.
• Working with modern equipment, including ComAp and DSE control systems.
• Delivering excellent customer service and keeping equipment running safely.

What you'll be doing

What we're looking for

• Strong mechanical knowledge, particularly diesel engines.
• Experience in fault-finding, servicing and repairs.
• Background in generators, compressors, plant or similar equipment.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently.
• Willingness to participate in overtime and a 1-in-4 on-call rota.

Don't have direct generator experience?

We'd also love to hear from HGV Mechanics, Plant Fitters, Forklift Engineers, Marine Engineers and those with transferable mechanical engineering skills.
