We are now recruiting a Service Director, Housing to join our Prevention and Communities leadership team. This is a high-profile role with responsibility for leading a large-scale housing service through a comprehensive programme of improvement, aligned with our ambition to become a C1-rated council.
Our 2025–2030 Housing Asset Management Strategy is in place. A £230 million capital programme has been approved by Cabinet, and the Council has committed to rebalancing the HRA. This role provides focus on landlord services, compliance and asset strategy.
You will lead the delivery of housing management services for over 10,000 council and leasehold properties, driving performance and improving tenant satisfaction. You will help shape the future operating model for housing services, ensuring it is compliant, financially sustainable and aligned with our long-term ambitions.
As part of our corporate transformation programme, housing is central to Swindon’s prevention-led model. Your work will directly influence the conditions for better health, wellbeing, and community resilience. You will collaborate across public health, social care, and community safety to deliver early intervention and enable people to live well in safe, affordable homes.
About You
We are looking for a strategic and credible housing leader with deep expertise in compliance, governance, asset strategy and service transformation. You will have experience leading complex housing services in a regulated environment, a clear grasp of the Regulator’s expectations, and a track record of driving improvement through insight, engagement and performance management. You will be a Chartered Member of the CIH, and bring strong financial literacy in HRA and capital planning.
