The company cares about community, safety, the environment and effective design, and is growing nationally.### The roleBeryl is looking for a service designer to improve the whole Beryl experience end-to-end, from a rider unlocking a bike to a council partner reviewing scheme data and the operations team keeping vehicles on the street. You would lead service design across the business while remaining hands-on with UX for the rider app and internal digital tools. The role sits at the intersection of digital and physical: parking bays, vehicle availability, customer support, council reporting and the people who rebalance and repair the fleet all shape the experience alongside the app.### What you would do* Map the full Beryl journey for riders, council partners and operations teams.* Get out on the street to talk to riders and observe how schemes work in practice.* Identify where the service breaks down and design practical fixes that span software and hardware teams.* Continue to improve and design the rider app and internal tools.* Test ideas with real users and use data to decide what to prioritise next.* Work closely with product, engineering, operations and customer support teams.* Monitor trends in mobility and among competitors to advance the service offering.### What they are looking forEssential:* 4+ years in service design, UX design or a closely related role, with a portfolio showing both.* Hands-on experience with service blueprints, journey maps and ecosystem maps, and a track record of using them to drive real change.* Strong UX craft across interaction design, information architecture, prototyping and usability testing.* Confidence running qualitative research and turning findings into clear recommendations.* Ability to work with people across the business, from engineers and operations staff to council officers.* Clear, concise communication, both written and in person.Desirable:* Experience in transport, mobility, public services or another service with a physical, on-street element.* Experience working with local authorities or other public-sector partners.* Comfort using quantitative data (product analytics, ride data, support tickets) alongside qualitative research.* Effective and responsible use of AI tools in research, data analysis and the design process.* Experience setting up a design function or design practices in a growing company.### Working arrangementsThe role is based in London on a hybrid basis, with 3 days per week in the office. It is a full-time, permanent position.### Pay and benefitsThe salary range is £45,000 - £55,000. Benefits include 32 days off (inclusive of bank holidays), employer pension contributions, paid sick leave, enhanced parental leave, a birthday day off, an employee assistance programme, a learning and development budget, a cycle-to-work scheme with discounted bikes and accessories, a tech scheme for discounted technology and home products, paid volunteer days, and discounted gym memberships across the UK.## DetailsLocation: London, UKOn-site or remote: Hybrid (London)Salary: £45,000 - £55,000Sector: Climate TechRole: Service designSeniority: GeneralOrganisation: For-profit
