About The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Service Designer to join our Advanced Technology Centre in Newcastle.

As a Service Designer, you’ll play a key role in shaping end-to-end services that are intuitive, accessible, and centred around the needs of users. You’ll help organisations solve complex problems by designing services that work seamlessly across digital and non-digital channels, while balancing user needs, business objectives, and technical requirements.

Working as part of multidisciplinary Agile teams, you’ll collaborate with User Researchers, Interaction Designers, Content Designers, Developers, Business Analysts, and Delivery professionals to create services that deliver meaningful outcomes for both users and clients.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys tackling complex challenges, facilitating collaboration, and using evidence-based design to improve experiences at scale. You’ll have the opportunity to work across a variety of sectors and projects, helping to deliver impactful services that make a genuine difference.

About The Team

Our Advanced Technology Centre is a thriving hub of innovation where design, technology, and delivery specialists work together to create exceptional digital products and services.

You’ll join a collaborative and growing UX and Design community made up of Service Designers, Content Designers, Interaction Designers, User Researchers, and other specialists who are passionate about User-Centred Design.

We foster a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and professional development. You’ll have opportunities to collaborate with experienced practitioners, contribute to communities of practice, and develop your skills across a diverse range of industries, clients, and technologies.

Whether you’re looking to deepen your service design expertise, expand your strategic design capabilities, or broaden your experience across large-scale digital transformation programmes, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to develop your career here.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Service Designer, you will:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business goals and user needs.

  • Support user research activities and use insights to inform design decisions.

  • Champion user-centred design practices, accessibility, and inclusive design.

  • Create service blueprints, journey maps, and other service design artefacts.

  • Facilitate workshops to align stakeholders and gather valuable insights.

  • Ensure services align with established design standards and best practices.

  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including Researchers, Designers, Developers, and Analysts.

  • Present design decisions and recommendations to stakeholders and clients.

  • Use evidence, data, and testing to continuously improve service experiences.

  • Identify pain points and opportunities across end‑to‑end user journeys.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Skills
  • Experience working as a Service Designer or in a similar user‑centred design role.

  • Strong understanding and application of Government Digital Service (GDS) design principles.

  • Experience advocating for User-Centred Design and evidence-based decision making.

  • Experience influencing and engaging senior stakeholders.

  • Experience working with design systems, design patterns, style guides, and service standards.

  • Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to analyse complex problems and translate insights into effective service improvements.

Nice to Have
  • Experience working within Agile, Scrum, or other multidisciplinary delivery environments.

  • Experience using HTML, Markdown, Nunjucks, or similar prototyping tools.

  • Strong knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.

  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or supporting other designers.

  • Experience working on large-scale digital transformation or public sector programmes.

At Accenture, you’ll have the opportunity to work on meaningful services that improve how people interact with organisations, while developing sought‑after service design skills and building a rewarding long‑term career within one of the world’s leading technology consulting organisations.

Our benefits include

  • 25 days’ annual leave, with the option to buy additional days.

  • Private medical insurance.

  • A supportive and inclusive culture that encourages collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

Flexibility and mobility are important aspects of this role, and there may be opportunities to spend time working alongside clients and partners to help deliver the exceptional services we’re known for.

Why Join Us?

If you’re passionate about designing services that solve complex problems, improve user experiences, and create meaningful outcomes, we’d love to hear from you.

Join a collaborative design community where your ideas will be valued, your development will be supported, and your work will help shape services used by thousands of people.
