Job summary

Henderson Scott is seeking an experienced Service Designer to join a government team in the North of England on a 6-month contract with hybrid working. You will lead service design across multiple teams, using evidence and research to simplify services and improve digital offerings.

The role requires designing end-to-end services, mapping and blueprinting, and turning user findings into prioritized improvements while balancing policy constraints.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading service design on complex digital transformation programmes.
• Ability to design and improve end-to-end services across multiple teams, systems and channels.
• Advanced skills in service mapping, blueprinting and systems thinking.
• Strong understanding of user-centred design principles and practices.
• Experience turning user research findings into clear, prioritised service improvements.
• Ability to balance user needs with organisational, operational and policy constraints.
• Experience planning and facilitating workshops with senior stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
• Background working in UK Government, wider public sector or other highly regulated environments, with knowledge of Government Service Standard and Service Manual would be preferred.

Service Design - Central Government - 6 month contract - North England Hub Hybrid Working

I have an immediate opportunity for an experienced Service Designer to join a busy government team in the north of England. You can be based from one of their multiple locations with an expectation to work 3 days onsite.

You will lead service design activity as part of a multidisciplinary team, using evidence and research to simplify services and improve their digital services offering.
