Job summary

Role Description

The Service Charge Accountant is a full-time role based in Salisbury with a hybrid working arrangement, combining office presence with some work from home. The role is responsible for preparing and reviewing service charge accounts for residential and mixed-use developments, ensuring accuracy, compliance with relevant legislation, and alignment with lease terms. Day-to-day tasks include maintaining up-to-date financial records, reconciling income and expenditure, preparing year-end accounts and supporting documentation, and liaising with property managers, clients, and external auditors.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in service charge accounting or property management finance, including preparation of service charge accounts and budget management.
• Proficiency in accounting principles and financial reconciliation, with good working knowledge of Excel and accounting/property management software.
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with attention to detail and the ability to interpret leases, financial statements, and regulatory requirements.
• Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders and build effective working relationships.
• High level of organisation and time management, capable of managing multiple developments, deadlines, and priorities in a structured manner.
• Understanding of UK property management regulations and best practices; experience in residential block or estate management is an advantage.
• Relevant accounting qualification or part-qualification (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIMA) is beneficial, or equivalent experience in a similar role.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, demonstrating initiative, accountability, and a collaborative, team-focused mindset.
