Job summary

James Andrews Technology seeks a Server Platform Engineer for a permanent role with a managed services client base in the UK. You will deliver proactive management across private and public clouds, owning incidents and contributing to project delivery for clients and internal teams.

The role involves monitoring, advising on improvements across hybrid environments, and participating in on-call rotations while mentoring teammates and coordinating with vendors.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox or HPE VME
• Strong Windows Server, AD and SQL knowledge
• Experience with SAN storage and networking fundamentals
• SC clearance eligibility required

Responsibilities

• Proactively monitor client IT estates and maintain solutions through continuous deployment
• Act as a trusted technical advisor, delivering improvements across hybrid, private and public cloud environments
• Own escalated incidents and problem resolution
• Implement DR and backup strategies
• Take part in the on-call rota
• Liaise with third-party vendors and mentor colleagues

Our client is a managed services provider delivering cybersecurity, communications and connectivity solutions across the UK. They are looking for a Server Platform Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

The role

You'll be a technical SME responsible for delivering proactive managed services across private and public cloud infrastructure, keeping client systems secure and running optimally. You'll own 3rd/4th line incidents and problems, and contribute to project delivery for clients and internally.
