Job description

Storage & Server Architect

As a Storage & Server Architect, you will be a key part of the Infrastructure team, responsible for designing, maintaining, and providing 2nd and 3rd line support for Storage & Systems hardware, Operating & Virtualisation Software, open source solutions, and application integration.

You will work towards providing a 24/7 support system, ensuring maximum availability of core systems, performance monitoring, and appropriate capacity planning. Additionally, you will ensure that disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity planning (BCP) provisions are in place and regularly tested.

Maintenance of Infrastructure
  • Manage storage & server hardware, virtualization, and services management, fostering technical innovation to create business value aligned with company requirements.
  • Lead large technology initiatives to build and maintain key infrastructure components, including 24x7 data centre management, remote access services, and enterprise-scale database environments.
  • Conduct annual technology and user audits.
  • Oversee third-party infrastructure services at all major locations, including hosting, personal computing support, and networking.
  • Manage all company-owned servers, switches, firewalls, and routers.
  • Maintain appropriate licenses and subscriptions for hardware and software.
IT Governance
  • Manage system security, performance monitoring, alerting, and backups, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Maintain disaster recovery arrangements in collaboration with the compliance team, ensuring operational readiness during business continuity events.
  • Work with the Compliance Director to develop, adopt, and enforce information security policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Coordinate with Network and Security Architects to ensure security, patching, and secure connectivity with partners and clients.
  • Collaborate with Database and Development teams to ensure compute, server, and storage requirements are met with 24/7 availability.
  • Complete annual reviews and internal audits for ISO 27001, 9001, and 22301 standards.
Competency Profile
  • Extensive knowledge of data centre operations, network engineering, client/server computing, and production support.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Server & Linux Operating Systems.
  • Experience with mid-tier storage hardware, particularly IBM Storage V37xx & V50xx series.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure applications, networking, VMware, firewalls, security, and enterprise SANs.
  • Experience with cloud services and provisioning, with Oracle Cloud experience being advantageous.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional project teams on complex projects.
