Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking a patient SEN Sensory Support Assistant to join a dedicated specialist secondary school in the Bury area. You will support pupils with sensory needs, help them develop independence and participate in daily learning.

You'll work closely with teachers and the SEN team, delivering individual and small‑group support, applying sensory strategies, and helping pupils feel confident, safe and ready to learn in a calm, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • All applicants must have a permanent residence and right to work in the UK.
  • All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
  • Any applicants that have been out of the UK for more than 3 months over the past 5 years will be asked to provide an overseas criminal clearance check.
  • All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Providing individual and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
  • Helping pupils manage sensory challenges and feel comfortable within the school environment.
  • Supporting pupils to develop independence, confidence and emotional regulation.
  • Using sensory strategies and activities to help pupils engage with learning.
  • Supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with young people.
  • Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and other professionals.
  • Helping create a calm, safe and inclusive environment where pupils can thrive.
  • Encouraging pupils to participate in activities and celebrate their achievements.
