Job summary

Lancashire County Council is seeking two Sensory Higher Level Teaching Assistants to work with Deaf children and young people in the Specialist Teaching Service across Lancashire. The role involves supporting learners in a range of settings, collaborating with Teachers of Deaf pupils, and contributing to assessments and EHCP planning.

The position is term-time only, 32.5 hours per week, with ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Experience in working with Deaf children and young people.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• GCSEs (English and Maths) at grade 4-9.
• Knowledge of BSL/SSE and total communication approach.
• Good ICT and ability to use hearing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Support Deaf learners across Lancashire in diverse settings.
• Assist Teachers and Senior HLTA under direction.
• Identify and assess needs and contribute to EHCPs.
• Use the Deaf Curriculum Framework to plan and implement support.
• Manage caseload and maintain accurate records.
• Travel to settings across Lancashire to support staff.
• Engage in professional development and share learning with colleagues.
