Job summary

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is hiring a Sensitive Financial Intelligence Team Lead (FTC until 18/10/2027) in London. You will lead the Enforcement Intelligence and Specialist Services Directorate within EMO, guiding a blended team of data and intelligence analysts to deliver insights and strategic investigations.

You will develop data-led intelligence strategies, manage staff performance, and collaborate with internal and external partners to strengthen market integrity and protect

Qualifications

  • Experience in managing and developing staff to deliver high-quality practical and exploratory analysis.
  • Experience of significant project delivery and oversight of acquisition and exploitation of intelligence data.
  • Experience working in intelligence analysis, investigations, or financial services with economic/financial crime context.

  • Developing the strategy to utilise and exploit a significant source of financial intelligence.
  • Hiring, growing, and managing a blended team of data and intelligence analysts at various grades.

Salary: This role will be based in London only with salary ranging from £66,600 to £86,000 (salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

Enforcement & Market Oversight (EMO) is responsible for the FCA’s responsibilities for market monitoring, delivery of the functions of the UK Listing Authority (UKLA) and the investigation and prosecution of misconduct using the whole spectrum of criminal, civil and administrative sanctions and remedies against firms and individuals.

Sitting within the Enforcement & Market Oversight Division, the Enforcement Intelligence and Specialist Services (EISS) Directorate provides strategic expertise, intelligence capabilities, and operational support across enforcement functions, strengthening the FCA’s ability to detect harm, deliver effective investigations, and uphold market integrity.

Sitting within the Enforcement Intelligence and Specialist Services Directorate, the Specialist Intelligence Department (SID) delivers advanced intelligence capabilities through four expert teams that generate strategic insights into economic crime, proactively detect threats, and collaborate across the FCA and with external partners to prevent serious financial harm.

Role responsibilities
  • Developing the strategy to utilise and exploit to best effect a significant source of financial intelligence, opportunity spotting where the data source can enrich FCA understanding of financial crime issues
  • Hiring, growing, and managing (overseeing and performance managing) a blended team of data and intelligence analysts at various grades
  • Overseeing the creation of data-led intelligence packages for onward action and liaising with internal and external partners to share, validate and develop insights
  • Acting as a role model and advocate for intelligence within the wider FCA
  • Being part of both the Data Exploitation and Specialist Intelligence Department management team
Skills required

Minimum:

  • Experiencing of managing and developing staff to deliver high-quality practical and exploratory analysis
  • Experience of significant project delivery and oversight of acquisition and exploitation of intelligence data
  • Experience of working in at least one of: intelligence analysis (e.g., OSINT, SOCMINT), investigations, and/or financial services sector; of particular interest, in any of these areas, would be experience of economic or financial crime issues.

Essential:

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of delivering both strategic and tactical briefings to a range of stakeholders of differing seniority.
  • Demonstrable interpersonal skills, to engage with a variety of internal and external partners, setting own direction of engagement and leading projects to improve stakeholder business processes and workflows.
  • Able to articulate how data can be used to drive both tactical and strategic decision-making, spotting opportunities where a data-led approach can drive better outcomes.
  • Excellent workload management of own workload and the management of a team of associate analysts.
