Job summary

Opticore IT is a specialist network and project management consultancy seeking a Senior Wireless Engineer to act as the Technical Authority for wireless. You will define, maintain and continually improve wireless standards and documentation while delivering client projects.

The role is based in our Central London HQ with up to 2 days on-site per week, offering opportunities to lead workshops, design solutions and mentor engineers in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Proven enterprise Wi‑Fi design and RF planning experience.
• Experience reviewing designs and ensuring industry best practices.
• Ability to scope solutions, support BOMs, quotes and pricing.

Responsibilities

• Deliver client wireless project work.
• Act as technical authority for wireless practice.
• Define and maintain wireless engineering standards and documentation.
• Review designs to meet customer requirements and best practices.
• Own pre-sales activities including workshops, quotes and pricing.
• Collaborate with Account Managers to translate requirements into solutions.
• Provide technical assurance throughout project lifecycles.
• Mentor and develop wireless engineers via coaching and reviews.
• Stay ahead of wireless technologies and vendor capabilities.
• Attend and organise WiFi exhibitions.

Opticore IT is a specialist Network Engineer and Project Management consultancy offering a wide variety of opportunities to work within fast-paced,challenging environments across our client base spanning multiple sectors including Finance, Broadcast Media, Telecommunications and more.

Opticore IT are currently searching for a SeniorWireless Engineer to be the Technical Authority for all things Wireless, providing guidance and support to engineers across the business. Defining, maintaining and continuously improving wireless engineering standards, best practices and technical documentation.

This opportunity is based in our HQ in Central London up to 2 days a week.

What you'll be doing:

• Delivering client wireless project work as required.
• Acting as the technical authority for our wireless practice, providing guidance and support to engineers across the business.
• Defining, maintaining and continuously improving wireless engineering standards, best practices and technical documentation.
• Reviewing solution designs and implementation approaches to ensure they meet customer requirements and align with industry best practice.
• Owning WiFi pre-sales activities by contributing to solution design, technical workshops, quotes and pricing.
• Working closely with Account Managers and customers to understand requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.
• Providing technical assurance throughout project lifecycles, identifying risks and ensuring successful delivery.
• Technical leadership, mentoring and development of the wireless engineering team members through coaching, knowledge sharing and technical reviews.
• Keeping the business at the forefront of wireless technologies, vendor capabilities and emerging best practices.
• Attending and organising attendance of WiFi exhibitions.

What you'llbring:

• Enterprise Wi-Fi design, RF planning, coverage/capacity, design documentation and reviewing/assuring wireless solutions.
• Strong enterprise wireless experience across platforms such as Cisco, Aruba or Mist, plus 802.11 standards and Wi-Fi security.
• Working enterprise experience Cisco ISE and/or Aruba CPPM.
• Strong understanding of switching, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, routing and how the wired network impacts wireless performance.
• Able to guide engineers, engage customers, scope solutions and support BOMs, quoting and pricing
• Previous experience with Wireless Surveying & Troubleshooting
