Job summary

Opticore IT in Central London is seeking a Senior Wireless Engineer to act as the technical authority for wireless, defining standards and guiding engineers across the business.

Based at our HQ in Central London, up to 2 days a week, you will deliver client wireless projects, review designs, and own WiFi pre-sales activities from design to pricing.

You will mentor the team, stay ahead of vendor capabilities, and help ensure successful delivery while expanding our wireless practice.

Qualifications

• Enterprise Wi‑Fi design, RF planning and documentation.
• Experience with Cisco/Aruba/Mist platforms and 802.11 standards.
• Experience with Cisco ISE or Aruba CPPM.
• Understanding of switching, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, routing and their impact on wireless performance.
• Ability to scope solutions, engage customers and support BOMs/pricing.
• Experience with Wireless Surveying & Troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Deliver client wireless project work as required.

• Define, maintain and continuously improve wireless engineering standards, best practices and technical documentation.
• Review solution designs and implementation approaches to meet customer requirements and align with industry best practice.
• Own WiFi pre-sales activities by contributing to solution design, technical workshops, quotes and pricing.
• Work closely with Account Managers and customers to understand requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.
• Provide technical assurance throughout project lifecycles, identifying risks and ensuring successful delivery.
• Technical leadership, mentoring and development of the wireless engineering team members through coaching, knowledge sharing and technical reviews.
• Keeping the business at the forefront of wireless technologies, vendor capabilities and emerging best practices.
• Attending and organising attendance of WiFi exhibitions.

Opticore IT are currently searching for a Senior Wireless Engineer to be the Technical Authority for all things Wireless, providing guidance and support to engineers across the business. Defining, maintaining and continuously improving wireless engineering standards, best practices and technical documentation.

This opportunity is based in our HQ in Central London up to 2 days a week.

What you’ll bring:

• Enterprise Wi‑Fi design, RF planning, coverage/capacity, design documentation and reviewing/assuring wireless solutions.
• Strong enterprise wireless experience across platforms such as Cisco, Aruba or Mist, plus 802.11 standards and Wi‑Fi security.
• Working enterprise experience Cisco ISE and/or Aruba CPPM.
• Strong understanding of switching, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, routing and how the wired network impacts wireless performance.
• Able to guide engineers, engage customers, scope solutions and support BOMs, quoting and pricing
• Previous experience with Wireless Surveying & Troubleshooting
