A leading NHS trust is looking for a Senior Wheelchair Therapist to join their outpatient service in Nottingham. The role entails assessing and providing wheelchairs and support for patients with mobility impairments. Band 6 Occupational Therapist permanent post with the Nottingham Wheelchair Service, based at the Mobility centre on the City campus at NUH.
We are an outpatient service and see patients in clinic, in their own homes, schools, places of work, nursing homes, care homes and supported living accommodation.
You will be joining a multi-disciplinary team that comprises of Occupational Therapists, Rehabilitation Engineers, Rehabilitation Technicians and administration staff.

You need excellent communication skills to facilitate close working relationships within the Wheelchair Service and with other multi-disciplinary colleagues in NUH, Social Care, GP and community nursing teams; including Tissue Viability Nurses.
Our service provides for both children and adults , so we see patients from 3months of age to end of life, who present with a wide variety of conditions that cause long term impairment of their mobility.
You will be assessing for and prescribing wheelchairs, seating systems, pressure distribution cushions and postural support products.
You will work face to face and engage in phone triage which involves either prescribing basic equipment or adding those patients with more complex needs to the clinic/visit waiting lists.
You will support other grades of staff and students on placement.
You will support permanent staff to deliver training to OT students on placement at NUH, preceptees and other specialist teams within NUH and local Social care settings who are regularly refer into the service.
This job is very hands on and involves daily moving and handling of patients and equipment using a variety of transfer methods in a variety of settings.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
